A new federally funded pilot program has been created to find out if kidney paired donation, which pairs eligible live donors with patients who have a donor that is not medically compatible, can make more transplants possible. They are also studying the feasibility of starting a nationwide KPD program. Below is the story from the UNOS website.

i thought i read about this, like a surgery of this kind with non-compatable kidney's being transplated to someone. wasn't it that they keep your antibodies from attacking the foreign organ somehow? do you know how it works?
Jason,
I work with the organizations that facilitate paired kidney exchanges.
After a successful kidney transplant in 2007, I started the Living Kidney Donors Network (LKDN) to assist others in being so fortunate. The LKDN purpose is to inform individuals about living kidney donation and prepare them to effectively communicate their need to family members and friends. We conduct workshops at transplant hospitals and with other organizations that support individuals with kidney disease. I am also offering free webinars, the current one is titled “Having Your Donor Find YOU.” In a few short weeks after promoting this webinar, over 500 people registered.
